Description
The tour starts with a private ride by air-conditioned minivan and an English speaking driver from your cruise ship to Florence. The tour begins with a photo-stop at one of the most popular observation spots of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, and a drive past the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte, the finest Romanesque structure in Tuscany. We then head to the historic city center of Florence where you will see the main monuments before diving deeper with a walking guided visit with an expert local guide of the Duomo Complex. Here you will admire the Cathedral, the Baptistery and Giotto’s Belltower. The tour ends in Signoria Square with the massive Palazzo Vecchio in the center. After lunch (not included in the price) you will visit Pisa: the city is known for its bright monuments, included the 11th-century Cathedral, the Baptistery and the Leaning Tower.You will have free time to stroll around before leaving for Livorno.

The tour was presented in English and Italian and it was great listening to both renditions even though my Italian skillz are lacking. Maria was super knowledgeable and somehow didn’t lose her breath whilst climbing up and up and up. Also patient with me being the slowest member of the tour.
The hike up is a bit of an adventure with steep steps and confined spaces. There’s even a feature up top that is almost like the cables at half dome in Yosemite . The view of the city from up to made it all worth it.
All in all, great experience!read less
